Update on the Forums

Hi guys,

I’m going to be posting a couple of announcements over the course of the evening that I hope will fully update you all on the current state of the play. I’m going to kick the ball off with a major update announcement about the current state of the forums and I regret to say that it isn’t good news.

Francine posted earlier in the week that we would be temporarily taking the forums offline to perform some work on the forums. This work on the forums was something that couldn’t be put off forever, as the forums and database had become increasing unstable. We made the decision to do the work before we kicked off simming again as we wanted to avoid any interruption once posting had started again. Originally the downtimes was suppose to last for 24 hours, but as you can all see the forums are still offline.

Unfortunately the problems that we had with the forums that brought about our upgrade have caused the forums to kick the bucket. We have spent the best part of the last three days trying to get the system working again but to no avail. This has left us with no choice but to complete a fresh new install of the forums and that is something that our old database is no longer compatible with. That means we have a new database to go with the forums which means that all of your old accounts and posts are no longer accessible. I do have access to the old achieves so I can grab anything out of it if we need it.

Our new forums will be up and running soon and I will post another message when it’s all ready to go. At that time you will all need to join up the forums again. I ask that you all try to have your new accounts up and running by Monday please, as that is the kick off date that we are aiming for. I realise that this is not the ideal way for to restart things around here, but it is at least good that we are getting all of this sorted out before we start again.
