Flight Control Department
The Flight Control Department is responsible for the navigation and flight control of a vessel and its auxiliary craft. The Flight Control Department includes pilots trained in both starship and auxiliary craft piloting, note that the Flight Control Department does not include fighter pilots. Although the staff compliment of the Flight Control Department is nominally 55 it is one of the more flexible departments on the ship. Starship piloting is mostly conducted by eight members of the department among them the Chief Flight Control Officer Lieutenant Commander James Markson and his deputy Lieutenant Holly White.
There are 13 further auxilary craft pilots as well as 26 further members of the department who's speciality is in engineering. These 26 are primarily concerned with the upkeep and preparation of the ship's auxiliary craft and although they are numbered among the Flight Control Department staff they report to both the Chief Flight Control Officer and Chief Engineer and are active in the Engineering Department when not required for flight control. A further 9 members of the department are involved in the operational running of the ship's 2 shuttlebays along side the ship's Operations staff. These 9 staff members report to both the Chief Flight Control Officer and Chief Operations Officer.
