After congratulating Ensign Panton on his first successful examination, Connie headed to her office so she could upload the data from baby Brian's check-up into his medical file. As she worked Connie couldn't help but think more about how Lieutenant Douglas was currently feeling with the issue of raising her child on the Pacifica. Connie had expected the Douglas' to experience this, as every new family with someone involved with Star Fleet did. She had seen it a number of times during her time as Chief Medical Officer on the Iowa and even Connie's own father he decided to leave Star Fleet so he and her mother could raise Connie and her sister on Earth. It was completely natural for Ashley to be feeling the way she was as starship's weren't the safest place to raise a child.

It was interesting for Connie to think about this, as it was something that she hadn't really thought a lot about before. She wasn't quite sure what she'd do if she was in that kind of situation, she loved her job but she wondered if her own feelings would change on that if she became pregnant. It was choice that she knew she would eventually have to make as she hoped to have children herself one day. She had always considered that day to be far off and hadn't thought much about it, but a lot had changed for her as she was now engaged and possibility of having children had become a real prospect. She wanted to start a family with Daniel she knew that for certain, but she didn't know how he felt on the entire subject as it wasn't something that they had really talked about before, they had only just started to think about planning their wedding. She started to wonder if she should bring this up with Daniel as she did want to know how he felt about the entire thing, it wasn't the ideal dinner topic considering that they weren't even married yet. But she did think that it would help to answer all of her own questions and concerns that had just started to pop into her mind.

Her thoughts were interrupted when there was a gentle knock at the door; she looked up from her monitor, which she had been staring blankly at for the past several minutes and glanced across to the door where Ensign Panton was standing.

Morgan: Yes?

Panton: I've just finished out here and I was wondering if I could head off.

Morgan: Yeah sure that's fine, go and get some rest.

Panton: Good night Doctor.

Morgan: Night, oh and one more thing.

Panton: Yes?

Morgan: Good work today Ensign.

Panton: Thank you Ma'am.

Connie smiled and watched as the young ensign disappeared back out of the door, she was generally impressed by Panton's work effort on his first day as he showed great promise. Connie knew that he still had a long way to go but she was pretty confident that he would become a good doctor. She glanced back down at her monitor and tried to return to her work, but she ended up just turning her monitor off as she realised that she wasn't going to get any more work done with everything that was currently on her mind. The thing with Lieutenant Douglas had opened up a door that she didn't think she could close, as it had let out a lot of her own concerns and formed many questions that weren't going to be easy for her to answer, especially on her own.

Deciding to call it a night she got up from her chair she headed out into Sickbay and said goodnight to the duty nurse before she proceeded out into the corridor and started to make her to the turbolift. As she walked she continued to concentrate on the thoughts that were floating through her mind, debating whether or not to bring them up with Daniel.
